Sustainability & Green Building

The Sustainability and Green Building practice group consists of attorneys in the Environmental and Energy, Tax, Business, Real Estate, and Litigation Departments.  The attorneys in the group have wide-ranging experience; two attorneys in the group have even earned LEED Accredited Professional designation.  As green building and sustainable building becomes a norm, these attorneys work together to devise compliance strategies and assist in the development of innovative projects.

The Sustainability and Green Building practice group has been tasked with several notable matters.  In one such matter, the group helped with the development of Project CityCenter, one of the largest LEED certified projects ever developed.  The group also recently worked with a Fortune 100 company to develop a product which provides stakeholders with reliable LEED project information, a project for which the group formed a working relationship with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).  The group has also recently advised clients concerning compliance with CalGreen – California’s statewide green building code.

The Sustainability and Green Building Practice Group has the expertise and experience to assist clients in navigating the challenges and opportunities presented by environmentally responsible development, including compliance with varying statutory and regulatory green building and zoning requirements; obtaining national, state and local green building tax incentives and rebates; insurance and coverage issues arising from green building obligations; risk management and litigation avoidance; as well as representation in litigation..
