Grinnell, Hanley and Kiss Co-Author Article on Federal Regulatory Directives Impacting Commercial Real Estate Loan Workouts
Glaser Weil real estate partners Jason Grinnell and Thomas F. Hanley III and corporate associate Gabriel Kiss co-authored an article for Reuters titled “Commercial Real Estate Loan Workouts: Strategic Approaches for the Financial Industry” highlighting the need for mutual collaboration between all loan parties as unique economic challenges threaten to compromise the likelihood of industry-wide borrowers meeting debt obligations.
The authors offer analysis on the recently updated federal policy which “provides a measure of good faith discretion in decision making.” With rising interest rates, shrinking collateral, and lower occupancy rates and property values, they stress the importance of seeking out strategies to avoid foreclosure through “creative solutions and proactive management of commercial real estate finance loans.”
