Overview
Gali Grant is an experienced trial attorney and partner in Glaser Weil’s Litigation Department. Gali maintains a diverse practice that includes both national and international cases involving high-stakes corporate and financial disputes, complex contract disputes, intellectual property and employment disputes. She represents a range of clients, including large and small businesses, financial institutions, investment funds, high-net-worth individuals, corporate directors, hotels and municipalities.
Whether Gali is artfully preventing litigation from ever being filed, directing settlement efforts or stepping in as lead trial counsel, her clients trust her to bring their matters to a successful conclusion. In many of her cases, she navigates not only the legal strategy but also the reputational implications of the matters. She is well versed in defending against aggressive press and social media campaigns by opposing counsel.
Gali is particularly sought after for:
- Corporate and financial disputes
- Employment disputes
Gali is committed to serving her community and, as a native Israeli, is particularly passionate about Jewish advocacy and philanthropy. In December 2022, Gali was selected to participate in Cohort II of the American Friends of the Hebrew University Leadership Empowerment and Development Program (AFHU LEAD), an exclusive 18-month immersive program designed to develop a new generation of leaders. She is also a co-chair of the firm’s Associate Development Committee, where she oversees associate mentoring and training, and a founding member of the firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, where she assists with enhancing the infrastructure and overall culture of the firm.
Gali received her law degree from Loyola Law School, where she was a member of the St. Thomas More Honor Society and a member of Loyola’s nationally ranked Byrne Trial Advocacy Team. She also served as a judicial extern for the Hon. R. Gary Klausner, U.S. District Court judge for the Central District of California.
Gali received her bachelor’s degree in political science, with a minor in law and society, from the University of California, San Diego.
Results
Gali’s recent matters include her representation of:
- The Yucaipa Companies, LLC, in securing the client’s first—and, ultimately, complete—victory in an almost decade-long case arising from its 2007 investment in a company. A Glaser Weil team led by Gali Grant and Patty Glaser stepped in to take over the case from existing counsel and, in the time frame of nine months, absorbed 10 years’ worth of materials and prepared the case for trial. Following a seven-day in-person trial in Delaware, the court issued a judgment in favor of our client.
- Founders and principals of The FeedFeed, an online food network, in a federal lawsuit brought by two former employees asserting discrimination and wage-and-hour claims.
- One of the world’s premier membership/hotel brands in connection with an employment dispute involving a group of employees, including high-level employees.
- A high-net-worth individual in connection with a lawsuit filed against the client for nonpayment of fraudulent overcharges by the contractor hired to build his $50 million-plus home in Beverly Hills. Together with her team at Glaser Weil, Gali uncovered millions of dollars in defects and positioned the client to obtain a judgment against the contractor as a cross-complainant.
- An investment company that owns a well-known restaurant chain in successfully settling a multijurisdictional dispute between investors at various levels of a complicated corporate structure.
- A holding company in its defense against an alleged breach of contract involving an eight-figure purchase agreement for a Gulfstream jet.
Additional significant experience includes her representation of:
- Nicholas Holdings, Inc., in obtaining a $28 million dollar judgment after a 12-day trial in a loan dispute.
- A global hotel chain in obtaining a complete defense jury verdict in a civil rights case they were brought against, which prevailed on the hotel’s affirmative counterclaims.
- A client in their successful defense against multiple wrongful termination and wage-and-hour claims brought by former employees against an international apparel company.
- An accounting firm in defeating professional malpractice claims they were brought against at the pleading stage.
- A former executive in the entertainment industry in an action to enforce her rights against her former employers.
- A film production company in obtaining a judgement in its breach of contract action against an international film distributor.
- Pro bono clients in multiple 42 U.S.C. § 1983 cases.
- Individual employers in disputes with domestic employees and in the development of employment practices and handbooks designed to protect employers.
- Former president of a publicly traded company in their successful defense in a Blue Sky securities fraud case.
