Overview

Sean Yi is a litigation associate in Glaser Weil’s San Diego office, where he focuses on complex commercial litigation. Sean has extensive experience representing clients in civil matters in state and federal courts in diverse industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, consumer credit reporting, banking, airlines and telecommunications. Sean’s litigation experience involves a wide breadth of commercial claims, including securities fraud actions, contract disputes, class actions, False Claims Act matters, antitrust suits, consumer credit reporting cases and insurance recovery matters for policyholders, among other matters.

Sean also has significant experience advising clients in connection with internal corporate investigations and government investigations, including requests by the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Before joining Glaser Weil, Sean was an associate at an Am Law 20 firm. Previously, he clerked for the Honorable Robert S. Huie of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.

Sean earned his J.D. from Cornell University in 2017, where he was an associate and blog editor for the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy and a participant in the Langfan Moot Court Competition. He received his B.A. in Classics, magna cum laude, from Princeton University in 2012.

In addition to his commercial practice, Sean is dedicated to pro bono work. He has successfully represented clients in immigration cases, including petitions for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, asylum and Family Unity Benefits.

Sean’s notable experience includes his representation of:

  • A pharmaceutical corporation in a class action lawsuit filed in federal court alleging violations of the False Claims Act.*
  • A credit reporting agency in federal lawsuits brought by plaintiffs bringing claims under the Federal Credit Reporting Act*
  • The special committee of a U.S. public company in its internal investigation of related-party transactions in the U.S. and China involving company founders and senior executives.*
  • A major Indian pharmaceutical company in a class action lawsuit filed in federal court alleging violations of the federal securities laws in connection with a warning letter issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to the company.*
